Automation Systems Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Austin, TX, United States; travel required up to 10% of the time; relocation eligible.

Salary: $120,000–$165,000 per year, plus potential bonus and stock awards.

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and implement automation and control systems.
• Troubleshoot automation, control, data connectivity, and equipment reliability issues.
• Analyze requirements, define system architectures, write specifications, and integrate subsystems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and align solutions with operational goals.
• Develop documentation and ensure compliance with automation, control, Industry 4.0, and industry standards.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers while driving continuous improvement and root-cause corrective actions.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of robotics integration, collaborative robots, assembly automation, automated guided vehicles, and conveyor systems.
• Experience with vision systems engineering, machine vision, image processing, and automated equipment integration.
• Expertise in electrical automation, control systems, sensors, actuators, electrical circuits, power systems, and control theory.
• Experience with PLC programming, SCADA, PID tuning, HMI development, and industrial networking.
• Programming experience with Java, Python, Groovy, or JavaScript, plus knowledge of TCP/IP and SNMP.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of packaging automation equipment, including case erectors, palletizers, and stretch wrap machines.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, VMware, AutoCAD Electrical, LabVIEW, data warehousing, and data visualization.
• Understanding of SDLC, agile methodologies, IoT, AI, machine learning, and cyber-physical systems.
