Research Associate

Location: Remote position open to candidates located in Colombia, Kenya, or the United States with the right to work in their location; local employment contract and salary scale apply.

Salary: $80,000–$95,000 per year for the US pay rate; compensation varies by work location, experience, skills, labor market, and budget.

What you will do

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research across multiple education research projects.
• Clean, organize, manage, and analyze datasets while ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Support implementation research assessing intervention delivery, quality, fidelity, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support randomized controlled trials examining interventions’ effects on children’s foundational learning and wellbeing.
• Draft reports, briefs, and blog posts that communicate research findings to practitioner and policy audiences.
• Collaborate with Education, Research, R&D, and other IRC departments.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Education, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of quantitative research methods, inferential statistics, qualitative approaches, implementation research, and causal inference.
• Experience with data cleaning, management, and analysis using at least one tool such as Stata, R, or Python.
• Up to three years of experience in research, data analysis, or a related field; relevant internships, academic research, and volunteer work are considered.
• Strong written communication and organizational skills, including the ability to explain findings clearly to non-specialist audiences and manage competing priorities.
• Fluent English is required; candidates must have the right to work in Colombia, Kenya, or the United States.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with qualitative data methods such as thematic analysis or content analysis.
• Proficiency in French or Arabic.
• Experience drafting reports, summaries, or briefs.
