Engineering Manager (Energy Efficiency & DSM)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid workplace. Local travel of up to approximately 20% is required.

Salary: $110,000–$143,000 base salary annually, with potential discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Support utility demand-side management programs and help achieve energy savings goals.
• Lead and mentor engineers responsible for technical project reviews and energy-efficiency services.
• Identify energy-saving measures, complete energy modeling and economic analysis, and quantify project impacts.
• Provide technical assistance for project implementation, including calculations, scopes, implementation details, and operational impacts.
• Prepare technical reports from energy audits and retro-commissioning services, including savings and incentive calculations.
• Maintain deliverable quality, project schedules, budgets, customer relationships, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field.
• 8+ years of experience in the demand-side management or building-efficiency industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC and refrigeration, thermal and fluid systems, motors, and lighting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently, meet deadlines and budgets, and work with varying levels of ambiguity.
• Excellent writing, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field.
• P.E. license, Certified Energy Manager certification, or other relevant certifications.
