Design to Order Engineering Manager (HVAC)

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan; onsite Monday through Thursday, with a flexible work location on Fridays

Annual base salary: $110,900–$157,500

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting engineered-to-order HVAC products.
• Translate customer, supplier, consultant, channel partner, and third-party technical requirements into engineering specifications, work plans, and documentation.
• Oversee custom and configured product execution against performance, manufacturability, cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
• Drive design reviews, documentation, change management, design validation, risk identification, and release readiness.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Product Management, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations to deliver customer-specific solutions.
• Manage technical issues, changing requirements, schedules, workload prioritization, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of engineering experience in HVAC, thermal systems, refrigeration, custom equipment, or similar engineered product environments.
• 2+ years of engineering leadership experience as a supervisor, team lead, project lead, or people manager.
• Experience with custom, configured, or design-to-order product development and execution.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems and components, engineering documentation, design controls, engineering changes, and product releases.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
