TL;DR
Nuclear Operations Manager (Advanced Nuclear and TRISO Fuel Systems): Leading day-to-day reactor and fuel fabrication operations at a pilot facility with an accent on radiation safety, compliance, commissioning, and operational reliability. Focus on developing operating procedures and training programs, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and balancing throughput, safety, and performance across startup and steady-state operations.

Location: Based in or willing to relocate to Orangeville, Utah, with periodic travel to Los Angeles for coordination, training, and integration with engineering and design teams.

What you will do

  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary reactor and fuel plant operator teams.
  • Oversee daily operations of advanced high-temperature reactor systems and TRISO fuel fabrication processes.
  • Manage radiation protection, industrial safety, environmental compliance, and quality assurance programs.
  • Develop operating procedures, training programs, and qualification standards for plant personnel.
  • Manage operational budgets, staffing, maintenance schedules, and performance monitoring.
  • Support commissioning, startup, performance testing, and coordination across engineering, quality assurance, and regulatory teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, nuclear technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent military or industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in power plant, nuclear, or advanced manufacturing operations.
  • Proven leadership experience in operations, maintenance, or production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety, radiation protection, and quality assurance programs.
  • Experience managing budgets, staffing, and operational schedules.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Nice to have

  • Experience in nuclear reactor or fuel fabrication operations.
  • Familiarity with TRISO fuel systems, helium coolant loops, or high-temperature process systems.
  • Experience with commissioning, facility startups, or DOE, NRC, or equivalent regulatory compliance.
  • Prior Radiation Safety Officer or nuclear operations supervision experience.
