TL;DR
Nuclear Operations Engineer (Advanced Nuclear Energy): Ensuring safe, efficient operation and deployment of reactor experiments and microreactor systems with an accent on operational programs, nuclear training, and alignment with design and safety bases. Focus on developing executable procedures, supporting reactor startup and commissioning, obtaining operator qualifications, and improving the scalability and repeatability of deployments.

Location: Idaho Falls, United States; on-site

Salary: $112,000–$160,000 per year, plus equity

hirify.global is a Series C startup developing mass-producible, inherently safe microreactors for terrestrial, underwater, and space applications.

What you will do

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of reactor experiments, plant facilities, test reactors, and deployed reactors.
  • Develop operational programs, staffing plans, procedures, and personnel capabilities for successful reactor deployment and operation.
  • Build and manage nuclear training programs for operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Align operational requirements with design bases, safety bases, and plant programs in real-world environments.
  • Lead technical discussions, reviews, and working groups with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and program teams to improve deployment scalability and repeatability.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated technical environment.
  • Experience working across multiple disciplines to deliver complex systems or projects.
  • Ability to connect technical, regulatory, and operational requirements into executable plans.
  • Strong technical communication skills for engaging internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under U.S. export regulations.

Nice to have

  • BS, MS, or PhD in nuclear, mechanical, chemical, aerospace, or related engineering.
  • Experience supporting reactor operations, startup, commissioning, or deployment.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety and compliance programs.
  • Experience with customers, regulators, or external technical partners.
  • Prior experience in the U.S. Navy nuclear program, national laboratories, or the commercial nuclear industry.
