Staff Software Engineer (Android)

Location: Fremont, California, United States. Hybrid attendance is required, including occasional office presence, regular in-person meetings and events, and periodic travel.

Salary: $181,500–$220,000 annual base salary for California, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, development, maintenance, and mobile release of Android applications.
• Build scalable, reliable, and performant mobile platforms and solutions from the ground up.
• Develop customer-facing experiences for vehicle connectivity, mapping and navigation, EV charging, vehicle purchasing, and other digital products.
• Define technical direction, roadmaps, deployment processes, monitoring, and engineering best practices across multiple teams.
• Drive complex initiatives from concept through delivery while identifying and mitigating technical risks.
• Mentor engineers through pair programming, code reviews, presentations, documentation, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience shipping customer-facing Android applications.
• Proficiency in Android development with Kotlin or Java.
• Strong knowledge of mobile platform architecture, UI/UX principles and frameworks, GraphQL, mobile security, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, mobile release processes, and technical leadership of large projects spanning multiple teams and functions.
• Experience launching 0-to-1 products in startup settings and managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Automotive industry experience.
• Experience with mobile app testing, experimentation, and automation frameworks.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies and services.
• Experience building mobile applications connected to IoT devices.
