What you will do

  • Lead structural, thermal, and dynamic FEA across hardware enclosures, assemblies, flex systems, and interconnects from concept through design validation.
  • Develop simulation models for drop, vibration, fatigue, thermal cycling, and mechanical load conditions.
  • Translate simulation findings into design recommendations covering geometry, materials, wall thickness, weight, stiffness, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
  • Own tolerance stack-up analysis and dimensional management for critical assemblies.
  • Correlate simulation results with physical test data and refine models using feedback from reliability and quality teams.
  • Support design of experiments and design verification planning by defining simulation-based pass/fail criteria.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of FEA and structural simulation experience in consumer hardware, aerospace, medical devices, or precision manufacturing.
  • Expert proficiency in ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, or an equivalent FEA platform, including meshing, boundary conditions, nonlinear materials, and contact modeling.
  • Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, materials science, heat transfer, and dynamics.
  • Experience with drop, vibration, fatigue, and thermal analysis for physical products.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or equivalent 3D CAD tools, including preparing geometry for simulation.
  • Track record of correlating simulation predictions with physical test results and iteratively improving models.

Nice to have

  • Coupled thermal-structural or fluid-structure interaction simulation for compact consumer electronics.
  • Experience with flexible PCB or overmold assembly mechanics.
  • Acoustic or vibration analysis for wearable or handheld devices.
  • Topology optimization, generative design, injection molding, die casting, or precision CNC machining experience.
