Jr. Mechanical Engineer, Machine Design

Location: Rochester, NY, United States

Salary: $65,000–$100,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design mechanical machine components and assemblies from concept through completion under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks.
• Perform engineering calculations and design analysis to verify technical accuracy.
• Prepare drawing sets and maintain design documentation.
• Participate in design reviews, incorporate feedback, research technical challenges, and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients, support HSE initiatives, and occasionally travel to project sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 1–5 years of machine design experience; relevant internship or co-op experience may be considered for new graduates.
• Exposure to industrial automation components such as custom tooling, robots, servos, and position- or presence-sensing equipment.
• At least 1 year of SolidWorks experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, mathematical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in English and a strong commitment to workplace and project safety. Developing ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, and similar documentation is required.

Nice to have

• Exposure to SolidWorks FEA and CFD tools.
• EIT certification or progress toward a P.E. license.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma, project management software, OSHA regulations, or additional languages.
