Controller (Hardware/Software)

Salary: $200,000–$350,000 annual base salary

What you will do

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process and establish a reliable operating cadence.
• Build the chart of accounts, internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes for a hardware and software business.
• Lead technical accounting for revenue recognition, inventory valuation, capitalized costs, equity compensation, and lease accounting.
• Manage external auditors and own the annual audit process.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expense management, and tax compliance.
• Build international accounting and tax operations, lead the accounting team, and implement scalable ERP and financial systems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
• Experience in a hardware or hardware-adjacent company, including inventory accounting, COGS, and contract manufacturing.
• Experience supporting international expansion, multi-jurisdiction compliance, local reporting, VAT/GST, transfer pricing, and cross-border payroll tax.
• Strong technical accounting skills and the ability to independently document complex accounting conclusions.
• Experience managing an audit with a Big 4 or national accounting firm.
• Ability to build accounting processes from scratch, work hands-on, and communicate accounting topics to non-finance stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with NetSuite or a similar ERP implementation.
• Experience with indirect tax, including VAT/GST, across multiple international jurisdictions.
