Controller (Advanced Nuclear Technology)

Location: Torrance, California, in the Los Angeles area; on-site work at hirify.global' facility. Applicants must meet U.S. Government export-control requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Salary: $150,000–$230,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and deliver timely, accurate, GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
• Build and improve accounting policies, internal controls, financial reporting processes, and scalable finance operations.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for management, investors, lenders, and external auditors.
• Lead technical accounting for revenue recognition, stock compensation, fixed assets, leases, accruals, and equity accounting.
• Develop accounting processes for manufacturing, inventory, cost accounting, and government contracting.
• Evaluate and implement ERP, accounting, procurement, expense-management, and automation systems while partnering with Finance, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, and People.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and industry experience.
• 3+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, monthly close, and audited financial statements.
• Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors, plus strong ERP and accounting systems experience.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong financial systems aptitude.

Nice to have

• Experience building an accounting function at a high-growth, venture-backed startup.
• Manufacturing, inventory, standard costing, or cost accounting experience.
• Government contracting, DCAA compliance, FAR/DFARS, or grant accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP implementation, finance automation, equity accounting, cap table reporting, or 409A-related accounting.
• Ability to build teams and communicate financial information to executives, investors, and board members.
