Firmware Engineer Tech Lead (PCIe)

Location: San Jose, California, United States. Authorized to work in the US and able to start immediately.

Base salary: $160,000–$200,000 annually, depending on experience, level, and business need. Eligible for discretionary bonus, incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect and develop firmware and microcontroller subsystems for SoC and systems products.
• Implement differentiating firmware features for connectivity products.
• Develop firmware for on-chip microcontrollers and C-based SDKs for system management controllers such as BMCs.
• Architect and verify hardware-software interfaces for complex SoCs in collaboration with logic designers.
• Debug PCIe protocol issues using analyzers and exercisers.
• Prepare for and participate in customer meetings to understand product requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting or developing complex SoC or silicon products for server, storage, or networking applications.
• High proficiency in C or C++, including development of C-based SDKs.
• High proficiency in Python for pre-processors, post-processors, and firmware quality control automation.
• Experience with PCIe Gen 3 or later, software and firmware build environments, GCC/Make, Doxygen, and GitHub.
• Familiarity with PCIe, DDR, NVMe, AMBA/AHB, on-chip memory, and other SoC interfaces.

Nice to have

• Experience with PAM4 SerDes, including Tx/Rx equalization, adaptation, CDR, and SerDes link budgets.
• Hands-on experience with PCIe devices in server, storage, or networking equipment.
• Experience developing embedded firmware for PCIe or Ethernet switch products.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
