Software Engineer III (Python)

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work environment

Salary: CAD 106,000.00–132,000.00 base salary annually

What you will do

• Build and maintain Python backend APIs and services using Flask, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and Pydantic.
• Design insurance pricing algorithms, models, data visualizations, and proprietary pricing solutions.
• Translate business requirements into secure, production-ready features in partnership with product management.
• Own the full development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, technical spikes, proofs of concept, development, testing, and deployment.
• Maintain applications against established SLOs and contribute to agile ceremonies, RFCs, ADRs, and peer reviews.
• Improve observability and reliability through logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerting, incident triage, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying web applications, Python backend APIs, and applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with some of FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and Celery.
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps practices, GitHub Actions, and Git-based workflows.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization for scalable applications.
• Experience with relational databases such as Postgres; familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Redis is an advantage.
• Proactive learning mindset, strong work ethic, commitment to resolving technical challenges, and personal responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts.

Nice to have

• Exposure to large language models and AI development tools such as Claude and Copilot.
• Data engineering background or interest, with familiarity with NumPy, pandas, or Polars.
• Full-stack development experience with TypeScript and React.
