Thermal & Cooling Liquid Engineer (SME)

Location: Remote within the United States, with up to 75% travel required to support site activities at Rockdale, Texas.

What you will do

• Lead the technical strategy for industrial liquid cooling systems, including direct-to-chip, cold-plate, and immersion deployments.
• Validate heat balance, fluid chemistry, heat exchanger performance, and system-level thermal behavior.
• Support end-to-end liquid-cooled rack deployments and lifecycle project execution.
• Manage technical requirements for valves, pumps, VFD controls, piping hydraulics, and stable flow and pressure.
• Define control logic, alarm thresholds, and fail-safe interlocks with PLC/BMS automation teams.
• Support commissioning, root-cause analysis, maintenance protocols, SOPs, MOPs, and operator training.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in industrial water cooling or critical infrastructure with a focus on large-scale fluid systems.
• Strong knowledge of thermal heat transfer, fluid dynamics, industrial valves, heat exchangers, and pumping systems.
• Experience reading and developing P&IDs and mechanical schematics.
• Hands-on experience with industrial controls, PLC/BMS systems, alarm management, and data-driven troubleshooting.
• Ability to manage complex projects and influence Construction, Engineering, and Operations teams without direct authority.
• Ability to meet physical job requirements and work in a data center environment.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying and maintaining liquid cooling systems in hyperscale data centers.
• Mechanical, Fluid, or Systems Engineering background.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
