Director of Engineering (Battery Pack Systems)

Location: New Kensington, Pennsylvania; 100% onsite

Salary: $134,000–$200,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Set the engineering strategy and technical direction for battery pack programs.
• Build, mentor, and develop a cross-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers.
• Oversee lithium-ion battery module and pack development from concept design through manufacturing launch.
• Coordinate with program management, procurement, manufacturing, thermal and mechanical engineering, electrical and BMS teams, and software groups.
• Lead technical discussions with customers, suppliers, business partners, and executives, including design reviews and technical recommendations.
• Guide technology roadmaps, compliance, risk mitigation, engineering documentation, and operational improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline required.
• 10+ years of engineering experience with a strong focus on lithium-ion battery packs or related systems.
• 5+ years of technical leadership or engineering management experience, including building and developing teams.
• Experience leading the design, development, and testing of battery systems for electrified propulsion or stationary storage.
• Deep knowledge of battery pack architecture and mechanical, electrical, thermal, and BMS system integration.
• Experience with CAD or electrical analysis tools, regulatory standards and certification processes, change and risk management, mathematical modeling, simulation, advanced battery testing, and project or program management.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience with BMS software, control algorithms, or advanced thermal and mechanical battery pack design.
