TL;DR
AI SoC Modeling Engineer (AI): Building high-fidelity C++ functional and performance models for Trainium and Inferentia AI accelerators and their SoC subsystems with an accent on model-to-RTL correlation, pre-silicon validation, and architectural tradeoff analysis. Focus on developing scalable simulation infrastructure, validating compute and memory systems, and influencing custom ML accelerator design before silicon is built.

Location: Cupertino, CA or Austin, TX, USA

Salary: $143,700–$194,400 or $165,200–$223,600 USD annually, depending on location.

Company

hirify.global Web Services develops Trainium and Inferentia custom machine learning accelerator chips and the software and validation systems that support them.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity C++ functional models of AI/ML accelerators and SoC subsystems, including compute engines, memory hierarchies, interconnects, and data paths.
  • Validate models against RTL simulations, emulation platforms, and silicon measurements, debugging discrepancies and improving model-to-RTL correlation.
  • Integrate models into pre-silicon verification environments and help identify architectural bugs early.
  • Collaborate with architects, micro-architects, RTL designers, ML software engineers, and compiler engineers on hardware design and microarchitecture decisions.
  • Build cycle-approximate performance models to support architectural exploration and early software development.
  • Develop scalable simulation frameworks, regression suites, automated correlation checks, coverage-driven validation flows, and reusable modeling methodologies.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience writing functional or performance models of hardware such as SoCs, ASICs, GPUs, CPUs, or IP blocks.
  • Programming experience with C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
  • Familiarity with SoC, CPU, GPU, and/or ASIC architecture and microarchitecture.
  • Experience working with architectural specifications or reference implementations and translating them into software or SystemC models.
  • Understanding of verification concepts and experience with pre-silicon validation environments or design verification teams.
  • Ability to work in Cupertino, California, or Austin, Texas, USA.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SystemC or TLM-based modeling.
  • Experience correlating functional models against RTL simulation or emulation.
  • Experience developing or calibrating performance models.
  • Modern C++ experience, including C++20 or later, and experience with PyTest, GoogleTest, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with multi-threaded simulation and full software development lifecycle practices.

Culture & Benefits

  • Small, high-ownership team working on strategic AWS silicon programs.
  • Opportunity to expand into architectural performance modeling and influence chip design decisions.
  • Health, dental, vision, prescription, life, and AD&D insurance options.
  • 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, flexible spending accounts, and adoption and surrogacy reimbursement.
  • Disability accommodations are available during the application and hiring process.
