What you will do

  • Design and implement software for chamber motion, sensors, safety, I/O, wafer handling, recipe execution, and communication with semiconductor processing equipment.
  • Build a standalone subsystem software framework that operates independently and integrates with the main system.
  • Architect software for a dedicated subsystem server, including real-time EtherCAT communication and vendor-provided safety circuits.
  • Develop APIs and reliable communication channels for synchronization, recipe handling, safety signaling, data transfer, status monitoring, and logging.
  • Coordinate software engineering with suppliers and serve as the primary technical contact for their software teams.
  • Lead architecture and integration decisions across software, mechanical, electrical, and system engineering teams while mentoring contributors.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on instrumentation experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C#, modern C++, and Python.
  • Experience with Linux, EtherCAT, motion control, and configuring safety logic at production level.
  • Software architecture design and project management experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering groups and suppliers.
  • MS or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Nice to have

  • Experience with semiconductor or automation equipment control or robotics.
  • Familiarity with optical imaging systems.
  • Familiarity with FPGA programming.
