Battery Engineer - Electrical (Lithium-Ion Batteries)

Location: Based out of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania plant; onsite position.

Salary: $81,000–$120,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Define and document high- and low-voltage battery pack architecture, interfaces, and protection systems.
• Create electrical schematics covering sensors, contactors, fuses, connectors, harnesses, and control electronics.
• Select and integrate current sensors, power electronics, microcontrollers, and other hardware for safety, performance, and manufacturability.
• Perform thermal management and power dissipation analyses across environmental and load conditions.
• Design, simulate, bench-test, and validate measurement, control, and protection circuits.
• Develop validation plans, troubleshoot electrical issues, support safety and compliance activities, and present technical findings to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• 3+ years of system-level design experience with lithium-ion battery packs or related electrical systems.
• 4+ years of engineering experience in automotive, aerospace, industrial, or related sectors.
• Strong proficiency in electrical system design and schematic capture, including high- and low-voltage component selection and integration.
• Knowledge of electronics thermal management, power dissipation analysis, high-voltage safety, EMC/EMI, and grounding/shielding.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with practical systems design experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee due to export control requirements.

Nice to have

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with BMS, control algorithms, or embedded electronics.
• Background in ISO 26262 or equivalent functional safety standards.
• Project leadership, cross-functional technical coordination, battery mathematical modeling, or experimental validation experience.
