  • Build, operate, and maintain a trapped-ion testbed for next-generation ion traps with integrated photonics.
  • Create atomic physics tools and experimental setups to study novel trap materials and photonic devices.
  • Collect and analyze system and device performance data to inform quantum computer architecture, photonics design, fabrication, and performance.
  • Design and build precision equipment for high-sensitivity ion-trap quantum computing experiments.
  • Document and communicate results through internal and external presentations, publications, and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum in physics, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience, including experience in experimental atomic physics, experimental optics and lasers, or precision experimental control systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience with trapped ions, neutral atom cooling and trapping, or atom-based quantum computers.
  • At least 3 years of experience building complex atomic physics systems.
  • Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in physics or engineering.
  • Experience designing or operating quantum information or quantum computing devices.
  • Experience designing complex optical apparatuses, simulation and modeling, or experimental control software.
  • Experience with software version control, data archiving, and data analysis.
  • Strong written and oral communication, collaboration, organization, and leadership skills.
