Focus on building the licensing organization, managing concurrent licensing campaigns, approving major regulatory submittals, and driving efficient licensing processes for first-of-a-kind nuclear technology.

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Salary: $204,545–$300,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Establish and lead the corporate licensing organization, including staffing, role definition, workload allocation, and team development.
  • Set regulatory strategies and select authorization and licensing pathways for facilities and projects.
  • Own licensing processes and infrastructure, including workflows, approval processes, commitment tracking, document standards, and knowledge management.
  • Serve as the senior company interface with DOE and NRC regulator leadership, negotiating review paths, schedules, and engagement protocols.
  • Maintain licensing bases for operating facilities, approve regulatory submittals, and manage change control and amendment strategies.
  • Develop the licensing budget, manage consultants and contractors, establish performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related science field.
  • 15 or more years of nuclear licensing, regulatory affairs, or related experience.
  • Leadership experience managing licensing teams and direct interaction with regulators.
  • Experience developing and submitting major license applications or safety basis documents and managing regulator reviews through approval.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence and legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
  • Experience with both DOE authorization and NRC licensing frameworks.
  • Advanced reactor, research reactor, or first-of-a-kind technology licensing experience.
  • Experience building teams and processes in a startup or rapid-growth environment.
