TL;DR
Engineer V-VI, Licensing (Nuclear Reactor Licensing): Supporting reactor licensing applications and regulatory engagements with the U.S. NRC with an accent on nuclear safety, cybersecurity, environmental law, emergency planning, safeguards, and financial requirements. Focus on developing Safety Analysis Reports and licensing content, leading regulatory audits and responses to Requests for Additional Information, and coordinating licensing plans, strategy, and budgets.
Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States; 4 days in office. Standard hours are 8:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday.
Salary: $165,000–$190,000 for Level V or $190,000–$215,000 for Level VI annually.

What you will do
- Support reactor licensing activities, including certifications, permits, approvals, and licenses, while tracking milestones agreed with the U.S. NRC.
- Help engineers develop technical requirements that comply with NRC regulations and guidance.
- Develop licensing content for Safety Analysis Reports, licensing applications, white papers, technical reports, and topical reports.
- Support regulatory engagement planning, lead regulatory audits, and prepare responses to Requests for Additional Information.
- Support licensing strategy, plans, budgets, and coordination across licensing, engineering, program and project management, supply chain, and procurement.
- Integrate safety culture and quality assurance requirements into licensing processes.
Requirements
- Level V: typically 15 years of relevant licensing experience; Level VI: typically 20 years.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field, such as mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, or physics.
- Demonstrated experience with licensing activities related to cybersecurity for power reactors and/or small modular reactors.
- Knowledge and application of 10 CFR Part 73 requirements.
- Must work from the Gaithersburg, Maryland office 4 days per week.
- Participation in E-Verify and right-to-work requirements apply.
