Trading Systems Engineer

Location: Austin, Boulder, Chicago, New York, United States, or London, United Kingdom

Salary: USD 150,000–250,000 per year, plus discretionary performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Design, manage, automate, and optimize Linux-based trading infrastructure supporting global 24/7 operations.
• Plan and execute complex infrastructure projects, including system installations and upgrades.
• Deploy, configure, and test internal and external applications.
• Troubleshoot hardware, networking, operating system, and application issues across the stack.
• Benchmark and tune trading stack performance while maintaining high availability, throughput, and ultra-low latency.
• Resolve production-critical incidents, manage vendor escalations, and participate in on-call coverage for trading hours and weekends.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant experience supporting live production environments, preferably in trading.
• Expertise installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux systems from hardware and networking through the kernel and applications.
• Advanced programming experience focused on automation and integration, with Python strongly preferred.
• Advanced Bash scripting experience and significant experience managing and debugging production trading services.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools, particularly SaltStack; experience with Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or CFEngine is desirable.
• Strong project management, communication, organization, and issue-resolution skills; experience using JIRA is preferred.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Debian or Ubuntu.
• Architect-level experience with AWS or GCP cloud infrastructure.
