Senior Systems Engineer I/II - Secret Clearance (Aerospace): Designing, integrating, developing, and testing space-based electro-optical sensors, instruments, subsystems, and payloads with an accent on technical budgets, requirements definition, verification, and mission assurance. Focus on developing system architectures and interfaces, analyzing vehicle functions, executing payload tests, and resolving complex system-level challenges for aerospace and defense missions.
Location: Onsite in Tucson, Arizona, United States. The role is based at the Optical Systems site and may require travel or off-site work as needed.

What you will do
- Design, integrate, and develop space-based optical instruments, subsystems, and payloads for airborne and space platforms.
- Develop and maintain technical budgets, system requirements, verification techniques, simulations, and vehicle-function analyses.
- Plan and execute tests, analyze test data, and support payload integration with spacecraft platforms.
- Provide technical oversight for system architecture, interfaces, mission assurance, and compliance.
- Create interface specifications, CONOPS, and other systems engineering documentation with multidisciplinary teams.
- Support program and product management while driving technical development of space systems missions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in systems, software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another technical engineering discipline.
- Active security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required due to program requirements.
- Senior Systems Engineer I: 5+ years of aerospace engineering experience, including development projects and project or team leadership.
- Senior Systems Engineer II: 8+ years of aerospace engineering experience, including development projects and project or team leadership; CAM and/or IPTL experience.
- Demonstrated systems engineering experience developing, testing, and integrating space or airborne instruments.
- Experience with requirements management and modeling tools such as JAMA, DOORS, or Cameo, plus experience supporting development programs.
Nice to have
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Master’s or PhD in engineering and EO/IR payload integration experience.
- Experience with Cameo, MATLAB, Simulink, space-environment testing, or aerospace standards.
- Knowledge of hardware interfaces, communications protocols, and the software development lifecycle.
- Experience troubleshooting system-level issues, astronomy, physics, remote sensing, and complex multidisciplinary projects.
