Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Design, prototype, and implement solutions that enhance the Kubernetes platform using Helm, Argo CD, GitLab, Harbor, and GitOps principles.
• Automate infrastructure and day-to-day tasks using Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD practices.
• Improve platform security, scalability, reliability, monitoring, alerting, and availability.
• Identify bottlenecks, reduce technical debt, and optimize platform performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to gather requirements and improve platform offerings.
• Provide progress reports and technical guidance to NASIC leadership and product owners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+, or higher, meeting applicable Air Force and Department of Defense requirements.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, ownership, and independent working skills.
• Basic understanding of software development practices.

Nice to have

• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or Podman, and cloud-based application deployment.
• Experience with internet-connected and air-gapped cloud environments.
• Experience with Linux, Helm, GitOps, CI/CD, Argo, Backstage, Coder, Harbor, Grafana, Prometheus, Velero, or VictoriaMetrics.
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools, plus security, auditing, identity, and access management principles.
