Buyer - Fasteners and Consumables (Automotive)

Location: Troy, Michigan, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $67,000–$84,000 USD annual base pay.

What you will do

• Source, quote, and manage purchase orders for industrial fasteners and MRO consumables.
• Interpret engineering drawings and part specifications to ensure correct fastener grades, materials, finishes, and thread forms.
• Negotiate pricing and supply agreements with distributors and VMI providers while maintaining supply continuity.
• Manage RFQs, supplier responses, NDA processes, GTCs, PPAs, and other supplier agreements.
• Monitor consumption, inventory, delivery schedules, purchase order changes, and supplier compliance.
• Conduct spend analysis and build purchasing dashboards to identify savings, standardization, and budget-management opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 2–4 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations experience.
• Manufacturing or automotive experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and reporting.
• Knowledge of industrial fastener standards and MRO consumable categories, with strong organization, communication, and documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Fastener or MRO category management experience.
• Experience with VMI programs and distributor management.
• Intermediate-plus skills using AI tools.
