Lead Technician (EV)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $55–$60 per hour, plus performance bonus

What you will do

• Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and reconditioning on electric and conventional vehicles.
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Coach, mentor, train, and onboard technicians on repair quality, efficiency, safety, and OEM best practices.
• Develop and improve shop SOPs, repair workflows, quality standards, and inspection processes.
• Conduct quality-control inspections before vehicles are released for sale and monitor repair-quality trends.
• Partner with the Reconditioning Manager on workload planning, productivity, lean practices, safety, tooling, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of automotive technician experience with demonstrated technical expertise.
• Strong diagnostic skills across electrical, mechanical, and drivability systems using OEM and aftermarket scan tools.
• Experience training or mentoring technicians and improving shop processes and repair standards.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and service information and work with brake, suspension, steering, drivetrain, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; must be at least 21 for road testing.
• Must work onsite in Irvine, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, GM, Ford, or Hyundai/Kia EV platforms.
• High-voltage safety certification.
• ASE Master Technician or OEM EV certifications.
