Staff Engineer, Equipment Development

Location: Onsite at the Penang SDSM Office in Batu Kawan, Penang, Malaysia

What you will do

• Lead the SIP/SSD new equipment roadmap and path-finding activities.
• Serve as technical lead for equipment development and deployment aligned with IR4/IR5 initiatives.
• Extend equipment life, upgrade machines, and expand new-product support to optimize CAPEX.
• Improve equipment UPH, yield, automation performance, and machine capabilities.
• Standardize and upgrade automation software to enable SECS/GEM and database integration with MES and IT teams.
• Manage budgets for new equipment projects and support APC, machine learning, and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Deep technical knowledge of equipment development engineering.
• Ability to work independently with product design teams and automation vendors.
• Experience designing and managing new equipment across hardware, software, deployment, production, and safety functions.
• Strong knowledge of automation-system troubleshooting and process control.
• Ability to train equipment technicians in system-level troubleshooting.
