Principal Electrical Engineer (Aerospace): Leading electrical engineering teams while designing and validating high-performance electrical systems for space-based optical and ISR payloads with an accent on analog and digital electronics, high-speed PCBs, optoelectronics, and production readiness. Focus on defining electronics architectures, solving complex EMI/EMC and signal-analysis challenges, guiding multidisciplinary integration, and migrating designs from R&D to full-scale aerospace production.

Location: Onsite at hirify.global’s site in Tucson, Arizona, United States

What you will do

  • Lead and mentor the electrical engineering team, establish objectives, provide feedback, and support professional development.
  • Provide technical direction for the architecture, analysis, optimization, and validation of electrical systems for space applications.
  • Design and review high-speed, analog, and digital electronics, including PCBs, communications-bus interfaces, power management, impedance matching, and optoelectronic circuits.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, optical, and systems engineers to integrate electrical systems into satellite platforms.
  • Manage functional budgets, engineering metrics, gate reviews, risk mitigation, quality controls, and design-for-manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare technical documentation, proposals, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • 12+ years of electrical hardware experience, including space-application electronics design.
  • Experience with high-speed, analog, and digital PCB design, optoelectronics, low-noise and high-gain circuitry, EMI/EMC compliance, schematic capture, BOM creation, thermal analysis, and timing analysis.
  • Leadership experience managing and mentoring technical engineering teams, with strong analytical, communication, and resource-management skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
  • For U.S. office work, candidates must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or eligibility for required government authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • Experience with radiation effects and mitigation in space environments.
  • Experience designing high-reliability aerospace systems.
  • Active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.
