TL;DR
Senior Power Electronics Engineer (isolated power conversion): Designing and validating isolated DC-DC converters and power systems from 100 W to 10 kW with an accent on transformer design, galvanic and capacitive isolation, safety, reliability, and EMC. Focus on developing high-voltage architectures, implementing current sharing and microprocessor-controlled power management, and solving complex failure, thermal, and conducted-noise challenges.

What you will do

  • Architect, design, and develop isolated DC-DC converters and power systems operating at 200 V–10 kV and 100 W–10 kW.
  • Design custom high-frequency transformers and inductors using galvanic and capacitive isolation techniques.
  • Integrate and program microprocessors and system managers for power control, monitoring, fault logging, and PMBus/I2C communication.
  • Develop EMC and EMI mitigation strategies and implement current sharing for multiphase and parallel power modules.
  • Lead schematic capture, PCB layout supervision, prototyping, validation testing, assembly, rework, and debugging.
  • Perform failure analysis and collaborate with mechanical engineering, firmware, manufacturing, and business teams through product launch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of direct experience designing and developing isolated switch-mode power supplies.
  • Expertise in transformer design, isolation barriers, DC/DC topologies, current sharing, and N+1 redundant power architectures.
  • Strong microcontroller integration, programming, and debugging skills using C/C++ or similar languages.
  • Experience designing for international safety and EMC standards, including UL/IEC/EN 60950-1, IEC/EN 62368-1, CISPR, and FCC Class A/B.
  • Proficiency with schematic and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence, plus simulation tools such as PSIM or Simplis.

Nice to have

  • Experience with wide-bandgap semiconductors such as GaN and SiC.
  • Knowledge of thermal management and mechanical packaging for high-density power supplies.
  • Experience with high-voltage designs above 1 kV.
  • Familiarity with reliability prediction models such as MIL-HDBK-217 and Telcordia.
