Senior Technical Staff Engineer-Applications (Power Electronics)

Location: Chandler, Arizona, United States. International travel required, up to 25%.

What you will do

• Provide technical and organizational leadership for the High Power Solutions global subject-matter expert organization.
• Manage, mentor, and develop geographically dispersed technical experts; set priorities, allocate resources, and translate business strategy into technical objectives and execution plans.
• Support customers, field sales, applications teams, and business development with system-level guidance, technical escalations, and recommendations on architectures, power topologies, and component selection.
• Drive strategic customer engagements, design wins, market opportunities, and executive-level technical discussions across industrial infrastructure, AI power infrastructure, semiconductor capital equipment, grid and energy, renewable energy, medical, and commercial transportation markets.
• Develop technical presentations, application notes, white papers, training materials, evaluation boards, demonstration platforms, and reference designs.
• Support product introductions, application validation, system characterization, simulation, design optimization, and high-power conversion system implementation while influencing product and technology roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 12.5 years of experience in Applications Engineering, Field Applications Engineering, Power Electronics Design, System Architecture, or related technical disciplines.
• Strong experience with high-voltage and high-power semiconductor technologies, including Silicon Carbide, IGBTs, power modules, or related power devices.
• Expertise in high-voltage and high-power conversion systems, system architecture, power topology selection, and component integration.
• Proficiency with PCB design tools and circuit- and system-level simulation tools.
• Excellent knowledge of laboratory equipment and test methodologies, including analysis and interpretation of results.
• Experience presenting technical information to customers, field teams, and executive audiences, with strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical teams, projects, or strategic initiatives without direct management authority; mentoring engineers and developing technical talent across functions and regions.
• Willingness and availability to travel internationally.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with wide-bandgap technologies, particularly Silicon Carbide.
• Prior customer-facing technical support experience.
• Experience with digital control systems, digital signal controllers, or embedded power control architectures.
• Experience with PLECS, MATLAB, SPICE, or similar circuit simulation tools.
• Previous experience leading technical teams, managing engineers, or serving as a technical lead for globally distributed organizations.
• Experience building processes, developing talent, or driving organizational effectiveness initiatives.
• Interest and demonstrated aptitude for broader organizational leadership responsibilities.
