Applications Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Location: San Jose, California, United States. Travel to customer sites, Efficient offices, and industry events may be required for up to 30% or more of the time. Certain customer assignments may require U.S. citizenship.

Salary: $160,000–$210,000 per year, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Partner with customers to understand application requirements and system challenges.
• Design and implement board-level and embedded computing solutions for customer products.
• Develop and optimize software and firmware across multiple embedded platforms.
• Work across board design, firmware, and software integration with architecture, hardware, and software teams.
• Create reference designs, demos, developer-facing materials, and other technical collateral.
• Support customers from initial design through deployment and provide field feedback for product improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of embedded systems development experience, including software and firmware development.
• Hands-on experience with multiple embedded platforms and a strong understanding of board design and embedded system integration.
• Experience in application engineering or other customer-facing technical roles.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites, offices, and industry events for up to 30% or more of the time; certain assignments may require U.S. citizenship.

Nice to have

• Experience in solutions engineering, field application engineering, or customer-facing embedded development.
• Experience building reference designs or developer kits for embedded platforms.
• Familiarity with performance, power, and efficiency trade-offs in embedded computing.
• Ability to work independently in fast-moving and ambiguous environments.
