TL;DR
Component Test Engineer (Space): Developing and executing component and vehicle test campaigns for propulsion, avionics, pressurant, and structural systems with an accent on test planning, instrumentation, and requirement verification. Focus on analyzing post-test data, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring safe, flight-worthy solutions for VTVL systems.
Location: Onsite in Mojave, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. Persons under ITAR and EAR requirements and eligible to obtain required export authorizations.

What you will do
- Support integrated, qualification, and acceptance testing of propulsion, avionics, pressurant, structural, and other vehicle components.
- Develop test plans, procedures, fixtures, reports, and readiness and data reviews.
- Maintain verification and validation matrices with Systems Engineering and support requirement verification through testing.
- Design and maintain instrumentation and data acquisition systems while balancing cost, data fidelity, and schedule.
- Lead or participate in post-test data reviews, failure analysis, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Support supplier testing, discrepancy documentation, integration and test execution, and safe test activities.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience with component, integrated vehicle, or hardware development testing.
- Working knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, and fittings.
- Experience with sensors, instrumentation, pressure transducers, accelerometers, data acquisition, and controls.
- Ability to identify and procure appropriate test equipment.
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR and EAR requirements.
Nice to have
- Understanding of VTVL vehicle design and operations.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-1522, NASA-STD-5012, FAA safety-critical structures guidance, DO-160, or DO-178.
- Systems engineering experience with requirement validation and verification through testing.
- Experience with cryogenic propellants, high-pressure gas systems, hydraulics, combustion devices, or complex aerospace systems.
- Hands-on experience with tube fabrication, metalworking, wiring, component qualification testing, or directing technicians.
