Test Operator (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Coordinate and execute propulsion hot-fire, structural, vibration, and thermal test campaigns.
• Operate and monitor test stands, propulsion hardware, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
• Lead test procedures in accordance with engineering requirements and safety standards.
• Author, review, and refine test procedures and analyze test data.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation with technicians and support test-stand setup, upgrades, maintenance, and breakdown.
• Coordinate operations between test, propulsion, manufacturing, and technician teams.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in a hardware testing environment; nationally recognized rocket club experience is accepted.
• Hands-on knowledge of valves, pneumatic actuators, solenoids, limit switches, relief valves, pressure transducers, thermocouples, pressure vessels, HMIs, and data acquisition systems.
• Ability to read P&IDs, understand gas and fluid flows, and perform basic wiring, crimping, and soldering.
• Ability to follow engineering instructions, implement new data-collection methods, and communicate clearly over operational communications systems.
• Ability to work outdoors when needed, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform extended computer-based work.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR export-control requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorization.

Nice to have

• Mechanical and fluid-system design experience.
• Electrical and mechanical fabrication experience.
• Experience with pressurized gases and liquids up to 6000 psia.
• Experience with NI hardware such as PXIe, cRIO, or cDAQ.
• Experience designing or commissioning test facilities, or using Vizio, Confluence, or Jira.
