TL;DR
Test Technician (Aerospace): Supporting hands-on testing and test-stand operations for hypersonic vehicles and rocket propulsion systems with an accent on fabrication, instrumentation, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Focus on building, maintaining, upgrading, and operating engine, structural, and flow test stands while following strict safety and hazardous-material protocols.

Location: On-site in Houston, Texas, with testing at Ellington Airport for extended periods

What you will do

  • Participate in propulsion, structural, instrumentation, and other tests supporting hypersonic vehicle development.
  • Set up, break down, upgrade, maintain, and operate test stands.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, sensors, wiring, and instrumentation.
  • Operate pumps and boosters, including vacuum, hydrostatic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Support outdoor testing and additional test and operational activities as required.
  • Follow safety guidelines and hazardous-material handling protocols.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Fabrication experience, including tube bending and flaring, metal fabrication, precision drilling, and precision cleaning.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs or blueprints and understand system functions.
  • Instrumentation experience with sensor troubleshooting, wire routing, harnessing, soldering, and crimping.
  • Experience operating forklifts, SkyTrak equipment, boom lifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Must be able to meet ITAR requirements, including U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

Nice to have

  • R&D test-operations experience building, maintaining, and operating engine, structural, or flow test stands.
  • GSE fabrication experience.
  • Familiarity with propulsion systems.
  • A&P certification.
  • Experience with pressurized gases and liquids up to 6000 psia.
