Senior Firmware Engineer - Communications (Embedded)

What you will do

• Develop firmware across the full product lifecycle, from concept formation through high-volume production.
• Design software for home energy product components, including power electronics controls, system behaviors, optimization, diagnostics, updates, and installation automation.
• Implement and improve RF, powerline, Ethernet, and wireless communication features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate product features, validate designs, and improve reliability.
• Design simulations, validation tests, and manufacturing automation support functionality.
• Support firmware features with manufacturing partners and improve production quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience delivering firmware for new products as part of a development team.
• Experience with wireless mesh network frameworks such as esp-wifi-mesh and with high-volume products requiring 24/7 communications reliability.
• Experience with communication protocols, CAN, and Protocol Buffers.
• Experience with Espressif ESP-IDF, embedded Ethernet stacks, TCP/IP, BSD Socket API, and HTTPS.
• Wireless communication experience with WiFi, WiFi Mesh, Bluetooth/BLE, and BLE-Mesh.
• Proficiency in C, working familiarity with CMake and Python, and experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other laboratory test equipment.
