Associate Actuary, Corporate Actuarial

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: CAD 105,000–140,000 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary variable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Coordinate quarterly valuation reporting, close-cycle analysis, management reporting, and review materials for the Appointed Actuary.
• Support MD&A, AAR, OSFI Life returns, financial statement notes, and other regulatory reporting.
• Lead or support valuation model implementation, validation, and testing for product, dividend, reinsurance, assumption, and methodology changes.
• Maintain actuarial process documentation, controls, evidence retention, and audit-ready review practices.
• Support AXIS and Risk Integrity model governance, data reconciliations, model vetting, production readiness, and documentation of assumptions and limitations.
• Coach actuarial analysts, interns, and co-op students while identifying opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements.

Requirements

• Recently qualified FCIA/FSA actuary with relevant life insurance experience.
• Knowledge of Canadian valuation, IFRS 17, capital requirements, and regulatory reporting; U.S. or other jurisdictional reporting experience is an asset.
• Strong analytical, report writing, and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical actuarial issues to non-actuarial stakeholders.
• Experience with actuarial modeling and reporting tools including AXIS, Risk Integrity, DataLink, Excel, and VBA.
• Knowledge of life insurance, annuities, participating products, final expense or non-medical business, segregated funds, and reinsurance is an asset.
• Ability to coach junior actuarial staff and contribute to a collaborative, learning-oriented environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation, Power BI, Databricks, or other data tools.
• Exposure to U.S. or other jurisdictional reporting.
• Knowledge of the listed life insurance and reinsurance product areas.
