Director of Engineering (Finance Engineering)

Location: Krakow, Poland; hybrid with an in-office expectation of at least 50% of the time monthly, typically three days per week.

Salary: PLN 576,000–648,000 gross per annum on UoP, plus equity and other compensation components.

What you will do

• Own the multi-year strategy and roadmap for Finance Engineering.
• Lead technology and architecture evolution, including build-vs-buy decisions.
• Set reliability, correctness, security, and compliance standards for financial systems of record.
• Lead Accounting Product, Reconciliation, and Finance Data Platform engineering initiatives.
• Develop managers and senior engineers while engaging principal and staff engineers on complex technical problems.
• Design the geographic workforce plan and drive hiring and succession.

Requirements

• 8+ years of technical leadership experience, including 5+ years leading multiple teams within a domain.
• Experience building and operating financial, data, or large distributed systems.
• Technical depth to work as a peer with principal and staff engineers.
• Experience with engineering workforce planning and organization design across geographies.
• Ability to connect business strategy with technical decisions and communicate with non-technical Finance leadership.
• Strong security and compliance judgment in a regulated industry such as fintech, banking, or payments.

Nice to have

• Experience with accounting, ledger, reconciliation, or payments systems.
• A practical perspective on AI-assisted and agentic finance systems.
