Consultant, Sales Engineering (Submarine Networking)

Location: Remote-UK; candidates must be based in and authorized to work in the EMEA region, Europe, or UK.

What you will do

• Lead technical engagements for submarine customer opportunities across tenders, bids, contracts, and clarification activities.
• Deliver technology workshops, demonstrations, trials, proof-of-concepts, and technical discussions.
• Design and validate submarine network architectures, solution designs, equipment layouts, test plans, and procedures.
• Prepare RFx responses, solution cost models, pricing schedules, and customer-facing engineering documentation.
• Evaluate technology alternatives and network design trade-offs to meet technical and commercial objectives.
• Collaborate with sales, account, product management, R&D, partner, and technical teams and recommend product enhancements based on customer feedback.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of telecommunications experience with DWDM Layer 0 optical transmission systems, optical engineering, instrumentation, and test methodologies.
• 5+ years in a submarine-specific role, including direct involvement in an upgrade project using submarine SLTE and SIE solutions.
• Experience with converged optical Ethernet Layer 1/2/3 technologies, including OTN, Carrier Ethernet, and IP.
• Experience using optical test equipment such as OSA, SONET/SDH/Ethernet/OTN test sets, and OTDR, plus link budgeting and fibre-optic impairment analysis.
• Must be based in and authorized to work in the EMEA region, Europe, or UK.

Nice to have

• Experience with consortia upgrade projects and subsea or terrestrial network cost optimization.
• Knowledge of data centre architectures, spine-and-leaf designs, edge networking, and optical transport.
• Experience with automation architectures, ZTP, DCN networking, APIs, networking models, and cloud application deployment.
• Knowledge of hirify.global Submarine Solutions and experience creating product feature and price analysis spreadsheets.
