Maintenance Technician I

Location: Fort Smith, Arkansas; on-site five days per week

Salary: $26.25–$31.03 per hour

What you will do

• Maintain and repair machinery, tools, auxiliary equipment, and building systems across multiple production lines.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to the scheduled PM program and support equipment uptime.
• Build specialized tools, carts, and equipment for facilities and operations needs.
• Communicate equipment status to internal customers and coordinate with external service representatives on repairs and installations.
• Prepare bills of material, initiate purchase requisitions, and prioritize urgent maintenance work.
• Move materials using hoists, carts, lifts, forklifts, and hand trucks while following the plant lockout/tagout plan.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Experience with a wide range of mechanical equipment and strong mechanical skills.
• Basic electrical skills and the ability to read schematics and blueprints.
• Self-motivated approach to maintaining buildings and machines through preventive activities.
• Three or more years of maintenance experience preferred but not required.
• Basic computer skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and adherence to standard work practices.

Nice to have

• Degree or equivalent education in Maintenance Technology.
• Experience working across several maintenance trades.
