Lead Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead the development, validation, standardization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes and documentation for spacecraft assembly, integration, and test.
• Design, develop, validate, and manage the lifecycle of tooling, fixtures, and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment.
• Lead manufacturing readiness activities, readiness reviews, risk mitigation, and production readiness assessments.
• Investigate manufacturing issues and non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Drive Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, Design for Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor Manufacturing CAD and Development Engineers and collaborate with Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, AIT, Quality, Supply Chain, Production, and Program Management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience leading technical engineering teams or manufacturing development activities, including manufacturing processes, work instructions, and production documentation.
• Experience in satellite Assembly, Integration & Test or aerospace manufacturing.
• Knowledge of DfM, DfA, DfX, Lean Manufacturing, and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency with one or more CAD platforms, including SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, Siemens NX, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
• Experience with MGSE, tooling, fixtures, test or EGSE, machining processes, material selection, manufacturing troubleshooting, and heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, lifting devices, or rigging operations.

Nice to have

• Experience leading manufacturing or production readiness reviews and supporting production volume transitions.
• Knowledge of automation, robotics, smart manufacturing, PLM, ERP, or MES systems.
• Experience with suppliers, contract manufacturers, additive manufacturing, and rapid prototyping.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Knowledge of aerospace and space industry standards, configuration management, engineering change processes, FMEA, PFMEA, and tooling qualification, verification, and validation.
