Principal Product Designer (Design Systems)

Location: Remote in the USA. Applicants within 45 miles of the Westlake/Dallas, TX office are expected to work onsite Tuesday through Thursday, with remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

Salary: $148,000–$195,000 USD annual base salary, with potential bonuses and additional benefits.

What you will do

• Define component architecture and compositional principles for the Pando design system, leading component reviews to improve quality and brand consistency.
• Design scalable token architecture from primitive to semantic and component levels for new themes and brand variants.
• Build documentation, governance, and adoption infrastructure that reduces one-off requests and scales beyond day-to-day involvement.
• Partner with engineering on tooling and working practices that align design and engineering roadmaps.
• Establish accessibility as a structural default across themes and components in partnership with the Accessibility Specialist.
• Own the design system roadmap, effectiveness metrics, prioritization, and resourcing business case.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product design experience, including substantial design systems experience.
• Experience defining component and token architecture for an entire design system at a B2B SaaS company.
• Experience designing, governing, and scaling enterprise-level design systems, including component libraries and governance models.
• Working knowledge of front-end implementation, including HTML, CSS, and Code Connect or an equivalent.
• Experience defining design system roadmaps and measuring adoption, coverage, defect rate, or implementation time.
• Experience with token- and component-level accessibility governance and WCAG expertise.
