Location: Austin, Texas, United States

Salary: $146,000–$204,500 per year, with potential pay up to $233,500 based on sustained performance.

What you will do

• Own complex, business-critical data products from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Build scalable and reliable data services, APIs, data models, and batch and streaming pipelines for analytics and data-driven product experiences.
• Use AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle to clarify requirements, explore designs, accelerate coding, strengthen automated testing, and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, data, and business stakeholders to evaluate trade-offs and deliver resilient solutions across teams.
• Share knowledge and mentor earlier-career engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience and demonstrated ownership of data products.
• Experience delivering at least one significant end-to-end service or product using AI tools such as Claude, Codex, or Copilot.
• Proficiency in a modern programming language such as Java or Scala, with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional design.
• Hands-on experience with system design, API design, data modeling, and batch and streaming data pipelines.

Nice to have

• Experience building reliable, scalable cloud systems and contributing to service boundaries, resilience, and operational practices.
• Experience developing AI coding-agent frameworks, including MCP and spec-driven development.
• Experience defining AI governance practices for responsible, secure, and compliant systems.
• Experience with Spark, Kafka, Flink, Cassandra, Scylla, or Iceberg.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical workstreams that improve performance, reliability, system simplicity, or developer productivity.
