Staff Software Engineer - GenAI

Location: US - Austin, TX; hybrid position requiring at least 3 days in the office

Salary: $131,600–$210,300 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and sales incentive payments where applicable.

What you will do

• Design and build software systems and components for large-scale payment technology.
• Develop end-to-end Generative AI features, from data ingestion and backend services to APIs and downstream consumers.
• Integrate LLMs into production systems, including prompt orchestration and response evaluation.
• Build robust, scalable web services and applications for merchants, businesses, and government solutions.
• Collaborate with Product, Test, DevOps, and Agile/Scrum teams on technical solutions and product quality.
• Debug software issues, contribute to testing procedures, and apply coding standards through code review.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree, 2+ years with an advanced degree, 0 years with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in software engineering, web-based or mobile applications, software systems, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Expertise in at least one general-purpose development language such as Java, C#, or C++.
• Experience designing and building Generative AI systems beyond simple prompt usage, including RAG architectures.
• Experience integrating LLMs into production systems and addressing hallucinations or grounding issues.
• Ability to work in the Austin office at least 3 days per week; hirify.global does not offer relocation assistance for this role.

Nice to have

• Experience with container-based technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience building and testing enterprise-scale web services.
• Experience in product development and client-facing technical teams.
• Experience with Angular or React.
