Staff Software Engineer (AI Enablement)

Location: Onsite five days per week in Mountain View, CA or McLean, VA; remote and hybrid candidates will not be considered. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not offered.

Annual base salary: $217,565–$260,000 USD for Mountain View, CA, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead hands-on development of internal developer platforms, service scaffolding, and automated CI/CD tooling.
• Design multi-agent automation systems and LLM orchestration workflows using foundation model APIs and frameworks such as LangGraph.
• Create DSL and FSM abstractions for modeling, controlling, and routing complex platform tasks.
• Implement persistent state and shared session management across developer tools, bots, and internal APIs.
• Build resilient distributed systems using Redis, Kafka, dead letter queue bridges, sidecar monitoring, and automated health checks.
• Define AI safety guardrails, improve model reliability, lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and measure developer experience metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend systems, distributed architectures, or core platform tools.
• 2+ years operating at Staff or Principal engineering scope.
• Formal technical leadership experience, including mentoring at least two engineers, leading architecture reviews, or serving as the primary technical lead.
• Strong coding skills in Java, Python, or Go, with deep experience in microservices, RESTful web services, and event-driven architectures.
• Full-time in-office attendance in Mountain View, CA or McLean, VA is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI agents, multi-agent systems, LLM integrations, LangGraph, AWS Bedrock, OpenAI API, or Anthropic API.
• Practical Terraform experience for cloud provisioning and infrastructure deployment.
• Experience with DSLs, FSMs, dynamic agent routing, Redis, Kafka, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, and streaming platforms.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, dead letter queues, secret management, sidecar monitoring, and self-healing systems.
• Experience influencing architecture and partnering with product, security, SRE, and infrastructure teams.
