Location: Torrance, California, United States. Factory and office environment with work near moving mechanical parts and approximately 10% travel.

Salary: $111,300–$204,090 USD annually, depending on level.

What you will do

  • Design custom test fixtures, rigs, tooling, and mechanical assemblies in Siemens NX, including drawings, GD&T, build instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, schedules, readiness packages, and configuration records for component and system-level validation projects.
  • Lead the setup, instrumentation, and execution of structural tests using hydraulic actuators, manifolds, servo valves, load cells, strain gauges, and LVDTs.
  • Operate MTS TestSuite and data acquisition systems for automated test control, high-speed acquisition, and real-time monitoring.
  • Analyze test data, evaluate component performance against engineering specifications, and present findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Improve test methods and laboratory workflows while maintaining safety, traceability, documentation, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or structural test engineering.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX CAD and hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, hydraulic actuators, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems such as Dewesoft or NI FlexLogger.
  • Strong communication, documentation, project coordination, organization, and troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with fatigue and durability testing, MTS TestSuite, Jira, Confluence, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with HyperMesh, ANSA, Zeiss Aramis, shaker or vibration testing, and MIL-STD specifications.
