Senior Engineering Manager (IAM)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $250,000–$300,000 per year, with compensation varying by location, experience, education, interview performance, and skills.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, mentor, and develop the IAM Platform engineering team.
• Own delivery of the authorization engine, permission and role model, authentication, SSO, MFA, SCIM provisioning, sharing primitives, audit logs, OAuth, API token management, and related data models and APIs.
• Set the roadmap and priorities with product, security, and engineering leadership to support enterprise access, identity, and administration requirements.
• Run an AI-native team by using agentic workflows to automate status reporting, triage, routing, and operational updates.
• Partner with enterprise customers, go-to-market, security, and architecture teams on identity and access-control requirements.
• Own operational excellence for high-blast-radius services, including on-call health, safe migrations, reliability, testing, performance, and security-by-design.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building production SaaS, including 3+ years managing engineering teams.
• Required: hands-on identity and access management experience, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWTs, MFA/2FA, enterprise SSO, SCIM, and RBAC or permission and role models.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade SaaS at scale and working with enterprise security, compliance, and administrative requirements.
• Technical depth to lead architecture discussions and make trade-offs for high-blast-radius systems.
• Security-conscious approach emphasizing correctness, auditability, precise access control, and server-side source-of-truth principles.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, plus daily fluency with AI tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with IAM or authorization at scale, multi-tenant identity systems, or workspace-scoped identity and token models.
• Experience designing configuration-driven or policy-based access models, authorization engines, or Zero Trust identity.
• Experience with SCIM provisioning, audit logging, and SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
• Experience moving a product upmarket, introducing AI-native operating models, or managing engineers across backend and frontend.
