Data Center Operations Technician (AI Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Own the operational readiness, cleanliness, access control, labeling, and space utilization of MMR and MDF rooms.
• Install, dress, test, troubleshoot, and document fiber infrastructure, including cross-connects, fiber maps, and circuit records.
• Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, network equipment, and supporting hardware while maintaining cable management and physical-layer standards.
• Support power distribution, load monitoring, breaker coordination, and HVAC requirements in critical infrastructure spaces.
• Lead or support Layer 1 and physical infrastructure incident response, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Maintain change-management records, as-built documentation, asset records, operational logs, and fiber route documentation while driving process improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center, carrier, or mission-critical telecommunications environments supporting high-availability infrastructure.
• Strong Layer 1 networking and fiber optic experience, including OTDR and optical power meter testing.
• Proven rack-and-stack, hardware installation, cable management, circuit turn-up, validation, and preventive maintenance experience.
• Experience with change management, detailed documentation, SLA-driven operations, and production incident response.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with NOC, engineering, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to work in a secure, high-availability hyperscale environment with a flexible schedule during critical maintenance windows.

Nice to have

• Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) certification or equivalent.
• Experience with Ciena, Nokia, Infinera, or similar optical transport platforms.
• Previous MMR/MDF or carrier hotel experience.
• Experience supporting hyperscale or AI/ML data center infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of power distribution, HVAC coordination, mentoring, and operational process improvement.
