Staff Backend AI Engineer (AI)

Salary: $115,747–$208,344 per year, plus variable pay opportunity and benefits

What you will do

• Architect, build, and own highly available transactional services processing millions of transactions per second.
• Design and implement agentic AI workflows using LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, tool calling, and multi-agent coordination on AWS.
• Develop production-grade Python and Go microservices and establish engineering patterns and performance standards.
• Design AWS-native infrastructure across compute, storage, messaging, networking, and machine learning services.
• Lead architecture reviews, proof-of-concept evaluations, CI/CD and observability improvements, incident response, and post-mortems.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through technical coaching, code reviews, and pairing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a staff-level, principal, or equivalent technical leadership role.
• 4+ years building and operating production services on AWS, including ECS/Fargate, EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, Kafka, VPC, API Gateway, or CloudFront.
• At least 2 years of professional Python and 2 years of production Go development, including asynchronous programming and microservices.
• Experience architecting large-scale transactional and event-driven systems, databases, distributed caches, messaging platforms, and infrastructure as code.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI systems, including orchestration, tool or function calling, RAG pipelines, LLM integration, and production operations.
