Senior Customer Engineer, SLED

Location: Work from home while residing in the San Francisco or Sacramento region; 30–40% travel required

Salary: $231,000–$275,000 annual OTE for San Francisco-based hires; $221,000–$267,000 annual OTE for Los Angeles-based hires, including base salary and commissions.

What you will do

• Lead technical discussions across the sales cycle for public-sector prospects and customers in the SLED segment.
• Qualify use cases, discover technical requirements, lead demonstrations, identify solutions, and design architectures.
• Collaborate on proofs of concept and customer implementations to generate and expand business.
• Advise existing customers on hirify.global products, technical best practices, and long-term technology strategy.
• Train and onboard customers through video conferences and in-person sessions while collaborating with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Support.
• Travel 30–40% for customer and prospect meetings, conferences, industry events, and team collaboration.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a customer-facing sales or consulting role.
• Understanding of Internet technologies, including OSI layers 1–7, TCP/UDP routing, authoritative and recursive DNS, HTTP(S), and SSL/TLS.
• Experience with on-premise infrastructure and networking configurations, including legacy systems.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to systems engineers, developers, IT managers, and enterprise executives.
• Strength in project management, relationship building, collaboration, mentoring, and prioritization.
• Must reside in the San Francisco or Sacramento region and be able to travel 30–40%.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of L3, L4, and L7 firewalls and ACLs.
• Experience with command-line interfaces, RESTful APIs, and browser web inspectors.
• Understanding of AI-driven capabilities and practical AI adoption.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Azure, AWS, or GCP Architect certification.
