TL;DR
Spacecraft Technician (Avionics Satellite Harness Manufacturing) (Aerospace/Avionics): Manufacturing, assembling, inspecting, and testing flight-quality electrical harnesses for satellite buses, payloads, and spacecraft systems with an accent on precision wiring, connector assembly, and workmanship standards. Focus on continuity and insulation testing, configuration-controlled documentation, and protecting hardware from ESD, contamination, and FOD.

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite aerospace manufacturing and satellite integration environment.

Salary: $30–$46 per hour, depending on technician level. Additional incentives may include stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

A space infrastructure startup developing in-orbit pharmaceutical processing, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses in-house.

What you will do

  • Manufacture satellite electrical harnesses, cable assemblies, and wire bundles from released drawings and work instructions.
  • Cut, strip, label, route, terminate, crimp, solder, splice, shield, and ground wires.
  • Assemble connectors, backshells, strain reliefs, sleeving, heat shrink, and identification labels using approved tooling and fixtures.
  • Perform continuity, resistance, insulation resistance, pin-to-pin, and other electrical tests using multimeters, hipot testers, breakout boxes, and related equipment.
  • Inspect workmanship, maintain traceability, complete build and test records, and support Quality buy-off, rework, MRB, and root-cause activities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Test, and Production while protecting flight hardware from ESD, contamination, FOD, and damage.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, technical school certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 5+ years of experience manufacturing electrical harnesses, cable assemblies, avionics hardware, or high-reliability wiring.
  • Experience with wire stripping, crimping, soldering, connector assembly, harness routing, and precision hand tools.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wire lists, harness drawings, connector pinout tables, work instructions, and bills of materials.
  • Strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, independent work capability, and effective teamwork.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace, satellite, spacecraft, defense, or other high-reliability electronics experience.
  • Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, or NASA workmanship standards.
  • Experience with ESD-controlled or cleanroom environments and continuity, hipot, insulation resistance, or functional testing.
  • Experience with D-sub, Micro-D, circular, coaxial, RF, or high-density connectors, including shield and backshell assembly.
  • Familiarity with NCRs, MRB, redlines, ECOs, configuration control, and prototype or first-build processes.
